Book Club Summary: And That's a Wrap

If you’re just joining our Book Club series, you’ll want to start here.

Welcome back.

We’re done the book.  Yay!!

Now What?

There is a LOT of information in this book.  If you want to make sure you’re not missing anything critical, try this.  Review a chapter each night. You know the material. You’ve made notes, highlighted the key points.  15 minutes should be more than enough.

Over time you’ll gravitate to the information that matters.  And skip the sections that don’t.

Do this until you’ve gotten what you need from the book.  A few weeks. A few months. Whatever it takes.

This may feel like overkill.  But to learn, you need to slow down.  Revisit the information more than once or twice.  Wrestle with it a bit. Think. Reflect. Then apply.

One More Reason

The higher up the corporate ladder you go, the less feedback and support you get.  That makes it hard to for your transition to be the success you know it can be.

This book can act - in an odd way - as non-judgemental feedback.  It allows you to review what the most successful leaders do. And skip the mistakes unsuccessful leaders make.

This has the potential to help you stay on course.  And course correct when things start going sideways.

In your new role, you’ll need to learn fast and adapt.  This book has tools that can help. A nightly review will ensure you can find them when you need them.

And One More Thing…….

Hire a coach.

If you’re ever going to hire an executive coach, this is the time.  Most companies will cover the cost if you ask. And many have coaches they can recommend.

Or call me. My clients tell me I'm a pretty awesome.

Coaching is a smart investment - which is why so many leaders do it.

Transitions are the most challenging times in a leader’s career.  The more people on your team, the better.

Final Thoughts

And that's a wrap for The First 90 Days Book Club.  Thanks for joining me.

Enjoy your new adventure.

You’re gonna smash it!!
